From the Boys
A collaborative podcasting project with Middlesex University and William Ellis School
From the Boys will see up to 16 Year 10 pupils complete their work experience by working with Middlesex University to create a five-episode podcast series on what it is to be growing up male in Camden today.
The project got underway in early May 2026 with a series of workshops for all Year 10 pupils exploring a range of themes around boyhood and masculinity to begin to find the core material for the podcasts. The participating pupils will complete their work experience in late June at the University recording the content for the podcasts. They will learn a wide range of professional media skills from storytelling and narrative construction through to audio recording and editing.
Our aim is for the podcasts to be released in September 2026, and we will be hosting a celebratory launch event at the school on Thursday 22nd October.
The project has already garnered significant interest. See below for a BBC London News segment featuring some of the pupils taking part on Friday 15th May. The project has also featured in the Ham & High and Barnet Post recently. Articles about the project are being written by request for educational leadership publishers and workshops about its approach and impact are already being booked in for the Autumn term.
The project perfectly encapsulates a lot of what we seek to achieve placing William Ellis at the forefront of how we approach boys’ education in the world of today.
Our thanks to our funders
Projects like this are made possible through our modest core budget, and supplementary support from individuals and trusts and foundations,
Our thanks, in particular, go to the Hadley Trust and the Hampstead Wells and Campden Trust for their support as well as Olly Olsen. The project also received funding from our Rather Use Than Fame Club which is always on the lookout for new members.
