Volunteering with the school and trust

Can you help create opportunities for the pupils at the school today?

One of our goals is to continue growing the number of alumni involved in providing insight, inspiration and work experience opportunities to current pupils at the school.

If you are interested in providing work experience opportunities for current students, or if you would be willing to come into school to share your own experiences through a masterclass or as part of a careers day, the school and the Trust can support you throughout the process. Please contact our Director, Will Durham, at wdurham@williamellis.camden.sch.uk, copying in the William Ellis Head of Careers, Horace Parry, at hparry@williamellis.camden.sch.uk

Hear from an alumni already involved in this:

John Simmons (pictured above right) made a donation in 2025 to the school library and volunteered his time to come in and lead a session for some enthusiastic young readers. His talk covered his love of literature, how reading has been a constant pleasure in his life and how it has helped shape his successful career. You can read about John’s experience and motivation in his own words on his excellent blog here.

Upcoming opportunities

Monday 2nd March 2026: Can you support with mock interviews for current Year 10 students? The school is looking for volunteers to conduct professional interviews with pupils to help them gain an understanding of this ahead of their work experience later in the year. Get in touch with Will Durham at wdurham@williamellis.camden.sch.uk if so

Monday 29th June - Friday 3rd July 2026: We are looking for work experience opportunities for our Year 10 pupils. Work experience is a vital introduction to the working world and helps expands pupils horizons and understanding of their next steps. Opportunities are harder to source now as one of the few negatives with the rise of hybrid and remote working, as the old workplace infrastructures to support work experience pupils do not exist in the same way.

If you are able to provide an opportunity to a William Ellis pupil please do reach out for more information. We are aiming to hold an information session to learn more after the half-term in February.
