The Old Elysians’ Club
William Ellis School has an existing alumni network which dates back over 125 years and is known as the Old Elysians Club. While membership of the Old Elysians are generally those who attended the school during its time as a grammar school it is a welcoming club with membership available to all alumni of the school.
Both the school and the William Ellis Trust are in frequent communication with the Old Elysians’ Club and value the depth of history and knowledge contained within the club – and the links it provides to the rich heritage of the school.
You can learn more about the Old Elysians’ via their website and annual membership of the Club costs £15 per year which funds their running costs and publication of their annual Old Elysians’ journal.
The school hosted the Old Elysians’ for a reunion dinner in May 2025 which was a wonderful event with around 75 attendees reminiscing about their school days, and enjoying tours of the school to see how much has changed – as well as how much has stayed the same.
We look forward to continuing to work with the Old Elysians’ Club moving forward.
This film was made by staff and pupils of William Ellis School in 1962/3. It outlines a normal school day together with a number of extra-curricular activities.
It was rediscovered by members of the Old Elsyians’ who have significantly enhanced the video to address the ravages of time. It gives a wonderful insight into the school as it was 60 plus years ago and will surely tweak a few memories for those who attended then.
