Entrepreneurial Skills
The third strand of our focus for the next three years lies on developing an entrepreneurial skillset and perspective within William Ellis students.
Being situated in Camden the school and pupils have access to a wide range of inspiring organisations, and we aim to help the school and students build advantageous relationships with many of these. We want William Ellis students to view the many opportunities within their home borough as being open to them, and know there often many barriers in place that can prevent this being the case in young people.
We define ‘being entrepreneurial’ as a mindset; we believe all students should be given the opportunities to expand their perspectives by encouraging their ambition, curiosity and the belief that they can create opportunities that will set them up for future successes. There are of course many former William Ellis pupils who have created incredible charities, social enterprises and businesses following their time at the school – and whom we look forward to working with to help support the pupils of today.
Within our plans for this area we are looking to;
Work with our alumni community and local business networks to source a range of inspiring work experience placements for current students in Years 10 and 12. To also ensure opportunities are present across all year groups within the school to engage with these.
Develop Trust-led and funded plans that provide the opportunities for students to gain practical entrepreneurial skills while supporting the work of the school and the Trust
Create educational programs around areas such as social enterprises to embed an understanding in students in how they can organise to effect change
Are you keen to explore opportunities to engage with William Ellis around work experience, mentoring opportunities or anything else which can help them develop core skills within this area?
